Claus-Peter Hälsig has over 35 years of industrial experience in various aspects of hydrocarbon processing in the refining and petrochemical industries, covering catalysis, new process developments, clean fuels and heavy fuel oil upgrading up to bio-fuels, energy efficiency and sustainability / renewable aspects as well as alternative energy resources incl. gasification and syngas conversion. He is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and in his position as Vice President for Process Engineering & Technology is responsible for the Europe, Middle East, Africa region as well as Russia.
Before joining Fluor in Irvine, California in 1993, Mr. Hälsig worked for British Petroleum in Sunbury (UK) in various functions from 1986, leading a refinery support team, which provided worldwide technical and scientific support to BP’s refineries. From 1980 to 1986 Mr. Hälsig worked in the R&D Center of BP in Germany and was responsible for the technical service to the BP’s German refineries, as well as for the development, scale up, and commercialization of new refinery processes.
One of Mr. Hälsig main areas of interest has become the topic of ‘energy & material efficiency’ in the widest sense in design and operation, the application of Best Available Technologies and Techniques and to facilitate the necessary closer cooperation in the age of digitalization (“Industry 4.0”) between all parties required to enhance the chance of improvements early in prospect development.
